For income protection claims, evidence commonly includes medical certificates, specialist reports, employment details, income records and information about work duties. Self-employed workers may also need to provide business financials, tax records or accountant-prepared material to establish pre-disability income. What payments could reduce my benefit? Who do I contact if my claim is delayed? These checks can make the claims process less stressful if a health setback occurs.

For insurers and super funds, the continuing compliance focus reinforces the need for plain communication, timely requests for information and fair treatment of people who may already be under financial and medical strain. For policyholders, it is a timely prompt to read the details before they are needed.
